Looking to upgrade your Yamaha Stereo?

There is no denying that the Yamaha Audio system was a good thing when it came out, since having Audio on a Jetski was something that everybody wanted, and especially since Seadoo had been offering OEM Audio kits since 2018, but ironically a company that traces its beginnings back to musical instruments and manufactures incredible audio equipment in other industries, completely dropped the ball when it came to their Waverunner Audio Kits.

For reason, MotoMarine manufactures and offers Audio Upgrade Kits for the Yamaha Waverunner.

Yamaha VX / GP 2021-2024

Unfortunately the audio system that Yamaha included in the VX and GP platforms is terrible. It uses a 5 1/4″ speaker in a tiny pod that will not fit a larger speaker easily. The amplifier which is located in the starboard speaker pod has the bluetooth module integrated into it.
Because of this awful system, there is no easy way to extract the audio from the bluetooth. The only way to do it is using a HI-LO to convert a speaker output wire into an RCA… so not only would it sound like crap, but there is no such thing as a Marine HI-LO.

We attempted to make an audio harness for this, but most of the time, the circuit board in the speaker would burn up, since it could not handle the load. For this reason, we no longer offer a wire harness for these older models.Our recommendation for these models is to purchase one of our kits with a Bluetooth Head Unit, Amplifier and Speakers. Unfortunately this requires a full installation of the system in your Ski, and is not a simple Plug and Play solution.

Yamaha FX 2021-2024

The FX models from 2021-2024 with the audio integrated into the cluster, do allow for us to manufacture a wire harness to extract the audio and run your own aftermarket equipment. For this reason we offer multiple models for the Yamaha. Our wire harness allows us to extract the audio via RCA’s and the remote wire to turn on the amplifier.

The speaker pod also had a different shape which is much more conducive for installation aftermarket speakers, so you are able to fit a 6.5″ speaker without major modification.

We still recommend running B+ and Ground wire directly to the battery as well as running new speaker wires to each speaker pod, due to the fact that the factory wiring is too flimsy… but at least we’re able to integrate with the factory Bluetooth controls.

Yamaha VX / GP 2025+

Yamaha finally realized after 4-5 years, that their audio systems were awful… and they finally updated their system. While their speakers are still lacking in power, at least now we have a nice canvas we’re able to customize a little bit better.

These models all the use the FX style Audio system, meaning we’re able to extract the audio signal into RCA’s from the factory Bluetooth without any issues, and they’ve updated their speaker pods, which can now hold a 6.5″ or 7.7″ speaker.

MotoMarine has been upgrading these stereo systems since around 2021, initially by cutting and tapping into up the stock wire harness in order to extract the audio and access the factory bluetooth. Having posted these upgrade systems on social media groups, we would receive a lot of feedback and people around the world wanting to upgrade their system.

After realizing the international demand for these audio systems, we developed a wire harness that we could offer to the public through our store to the general public.
